City of Carson Electric Vehicle Purchase

The City of Carson continues to make significant progress in its Sustainability initiative with the addition of five electrical vehicles to the City’s fleet!

At the June 4, 2019 City Council meeting, Council approved the purchase of five zero emission, fully electric vehicles (EVs). The purchase of the vehicles was made possible with a $50,000 grant received from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC). In addition to the $50,000 funds received from MSRC, the City was also able to utilize state rebates of $4,500 per vehicle from the California Clean Vehicle Rebate Program. In total, the City received $72,500 in grants and incentives to fund the purchase of our Chevrolet Bolt EVs.

The City received the EVs in August and they have been in frequent use ever since. Residents will have the chance to get up close and personal with the new electric vehicles at the City’s annual Earth Day event in April 2020! Until then, if you see a fleet vehicle with both the Carson and MSRC logo, you’ll know it’s Carson taking action towards a cleaner future!
