INVOCATION: On May 16, 2006, the City Council unanimously approved the offering of
a brief invocation at the commencement of all meetings of the City
Council. In doing so, the City Council
is cognizant of its legal obligation to assure that such invocations are
“legislative prayers,” and that they do not purport to advance any particular
religion or religious denomination.

RECOMMENDATION for the City Council:
TAKE the following actions:
1. WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 12-132, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE TRANSFER OF ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO LOCAL CONTROL"
2. INSTRUCT staff to transmit a copy of the executed resolution to Kirk Cartozian of Cartozian Associates, Inc., Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the Los Angeles World Airports Board of Airport Commissioners.
ACTION:
RECOMMENDATION for the City Council:
TAKE the following actions:
1. AWARD contracts to Sun Life Financial to provide Group Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, and Long Term Disability benefits with a thirty-nine month guarantee rate.
2. AUTHORIZE the Mayor to sign the contracts after approval as to form by the City Attorney.

1. APPROVE entering into an agreement with Michael Seale for an amount not to exceed $100,000.00.
2. AUTHORIZE the Mayor to execute the agreement following approval as to form by the City Attorney.

1. APPROVE the new name of the merged Parks and Recreation Commission and Cultural Arts Commission - the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Commission.
2. WAIVE further reading and INTRODUCE Ordinance No. 12-1506, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CARSON MUNICPAL CODE REGARDING THE PARKS, RECREATION AND CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION."
