Apply for a Rain Barrel Online

Reduce your environmental impact and improve water quality. Apply for a free Fiskar rain barrel or request help building a rain garden.

Rain gardens and rain barrels are excellent ways to reduce runoff and help protect streams, lakes and the ocean from pollutants. Runoff from rain and irrigation overwatering can carry pollutants like lawn fertilizer and pesticides, oil and other fluids that leak from cars, and numerous harmful substances including animal feces into the storm drain system. The storm drain system is designed to prevent flooding and discharges unfiltered storm water and nuisance water into nearby streams, lakes and the ocean. That is why it is so important to clean up spills, eliminate overwatering and keep rainwater on your property. Through various grants, Keep Carson Beautiful (the City of Carson affiliate of Keep America Beautiful) is giving away rain barrels to Carson residents. If you are interested in obtaining a free rain barrel, please fill out the on-line application below. Drawings will be held as funds become available.

If you have room for a rain garden, Keep Carson Beautiful and its volunteers can help you build one. A rain garden is an attractive shallow depression in your yard designed to capture rain water so it can slowly filter into the ground. A rain garden allows nearly 30% more water to filter into the ground compared to the average lawn.
