Classes held at Scott Pool , Dominguez Aquatic Center, and Hemingway Aquatic Center

Participants learn safety skills and develop good fitness
habits while increasing physical endurance. The concepts of lifeguarding are covered, including basic rescues, scanning techniques, first aid, and CPR.

Field trips are offered to expand the junior lifeguards’ experience of life guarding in different settings, including beach, and waterpark visits. Many junior lifeguards have gone on to employment as lifeguards and swim instructors. Prerequisite: Level-3 skills (see Swim Lessons Information for class descriptions).

Required uniform: Navy blue one-piece swimsuit or trunks.
