The elected City Treasurer is a Certified California Municipal Treasurer. She has the statutory duty of receiving and safeguarding all monies coming into the city. The City Treasurer also acts as the treasurer for the Carson Redevelopment Agency. The treasurer carries out her duties in compliance with the state law governing the depositing and securing of public funds. She is responsible for the management of the city and agency’s investment portfolio and the development of an investment policy to establish the guidelines for those investments.

The operations of the City Treasurer’s office include:

Collection of all revenue and the daily/monthly preparation and distribution of cash receipt reports for the city and the agency
The development of the cash receipting standards for the city and auditing for compliance of same by all departments collecting cash on behalf of the city
Implementation of the Fraud Hotline to allow anonymous reporting of abuse of public funds and the coordination to resolve any complaints received on the hotline
Preparation of checks and review of all expenditures of the city and the agency to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Investment of idle, reserve and bond funds in accordance with investment guidelines and reporting of same
Review of travel expenditures and reimbursement for same after ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
Disbursement of petty cash and replenishment of fund following standard management procedures
All banking related duties and safeguarding of assets for the city and agency
Acceptance of online payments for city services
Implementation and coordination of electronic payments for accounts payable vendors

She is pleased to bring convenience to you at home through online payment processing of room rentals at the parks and community center, business license/permit renewals, city excursions and dial-a-taxi service. We are continuing to add new services to our online payment menu and expect to include Veterans Sports Complex membership renewals and recreation programs in the near future.
