City of Carson Names New Economic Development Chief
City Manager Jerry Groomes has appointed Cliff Graves, an expert in the field of planning and redevelopment, to take over the top post of the City of Carson’s Economic Development work group.
Graves will be replacing Ron Winkler who will retire on June 1, ending a six-year tenure as the City’s Economic Development General Manager.
The incoming GM will bring to Carson a wealth of management experience spanning nearly four decades. With a vast experience in community development, Graves managed the master plan of the University of California and was responsible for the design and construction of two of its newest campuses -- the 3-million sq. ft. research campus of UC San Francisco and the 2,000-acre Merced campus, which opened in 2005.
Until recently, Graves led the Community Development Department of the City of Los Angeles where he oversaw the City’s investment in grants, bonds financing and loans for lower-income neighborhoods. His other prior experiences include the Executive Director position for the City and County of San Francisco Redevelopment Agency and Chief Administrative Officer for the County of San Diego.
