  • City Urges Pet Owners to Have License in Place for County’s Canvassing Efforts

The City of Carson is urging pet owners in the city to make sure they are in compliance with all pet licensing requirements and all rabies vaccinations are up to date, as Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) officials are currently making their rounds in Carson.

California State law requires that all dogs over the age of four months be vaccinated against rabies and have the proper license. A dog license is an important part of identification and can assist animal control agencies if your pets get lost.

In Carson, pet owners are also required to comply with the County’s mandatory spay/neuter and microchip ordinance. Pet owners not in compliance will be subject to license fees and delinquency charges, including a $40 field enforcement fee, to offset the cost of the Department’s field services.

Non-delinquent dog licenses can be renewed online through http://animalcare.lacounty.gov. Otherwise, applications can be printed online and renewed in person at your local County animal shelter.

DACC also offers low-cost vaccination clinics and low-cost assistance for spay and neuter surgeries. To find out if you qualify, please visit the DACC website or visit your local County animal shelter.

For more information on the canvassing efforts in Carson, please contact the City of Carson’s Public Safety Department at (310) 952-1700, ext. 1605.
