Consists of eleven members responsible for acting in an advisory capacity to the city council and the Director of Community Services/ Recreation/ Park Maintenance in all matters pertaining to veterans' issues, cooperate with other governmental agencies and civic groups in the advancement of sound veterans' programs, and generate discussion in the community with respect to veterans' problems, concerns, and issues; three alternates

The Carson Veterans Affairs Commission shall have the following authority and duties:

(a) Act in an advisory capacity to the City Council and the Director of Community Services/Recreation/Park Maintenance in all matters pertaining to veterans' issues and to cooperate with other governmental agencies and civic groups in the advancement of sound veterans' programs.

(b) Recommend general policies on veterans' services for approval by the City Council.

(c) Advise the Director of Community Services/Recreation/Park Maintenance concerning the development of veterans' facilities, memorials, programs, and services.

(d) Make periodic inventories of veterans' services that exist or may be needed and interpret the needs of the veterans to the City Council and the Director of Community Services/Recreation/Park Maintenance.

(e) Aid in coordinating veterans' services with the programs of other governmental agencies, public service agencies, and volunteer organizations.

(f) Attend and become involved in activities of any ad-hoc committees and meet with appropriate community organizations, agencies, or other groups, so as to provide adequate information for deliberations.
