In order for this system to function efficiently, it is important that drivers observe these rules and regulations. The City of Carson Truck Routes and Parking Zones Map is available to help truck and commercial vehicle operators.
The parking of any commercial vehicle with a gross weight of over six thousand (6,000) pounds, length of over twenty-five (25) feet, or width of over ninety-six (96) inches (total outside width of vehicle or load or combined) is prohibited at all times on any street in the City of Carson except under two provisions. Trucks and commercial vehicles are specifically routed on certain streets in Carson. The California Vehicle Code (CVC),
Section 35701 grants local agencies the authority (by ordinance) to establish Truck Routes and Section 3260 of the Carson Municipal Code – Truck Routes details City of Carson truck routes. Truck routes are established as a means to carry commercial vehicles between the state highways and commercial zones in the city. The CVC also states that no ordinance adopted pursuant to
Section 35701 shall prohibit any commercial vehicles coming from an unrestricted street having ingress and egress by direct route to and from a restricted street when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares, and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on the restricted street or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling, or construction of any building or structure upon the restricted street for which a building permit has previously been obtained.
