Long Beach Transit is Expanding in Carson

MISSION STATEMENT:
Provides citywide transportation through fixed-route public transit service, specialized elderly and/or disabled taxi service, on-demand ride hail service, staff-coordinated excursions, and bus trips in support of City youth programs.

Transportation also works directly with Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA), South Bay Cities Council of Government (SBCCOG), and South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) on a variety of transportation policies, initiatives, and funding opportunities.
  • Long Beach Transit (LBT) provides fixed-route bus services across four routes in Carson. Bidirectional service allows for travel down major streets in both directions, allowing for faster connections to major destinations and neighboring bus lines. Service hours and route schedules are on the LBT website.
  • Carson Circuit provides additional fixed-route bus service. City staff perform two neighborhood-serving routes for convenient connections to LBT and additional lines from Torrance and Metro.
  • Dial-A-Ride provides demand-responsive taxi service to seniors and/or disabled residents traveling to any destination within the program service area, as well as designated satellite points outside of the City. Carson students may also take subsidized taxi rides to and from high schools.
  • Lyft provides safe and convenient on-demand ride hail service within City limits through the City's exclusive promocode: LyftCarson. Eligible rides are 50% off, up to a maximum ride cost of $20. Participants must be 18 years of age or older to travel alone.
