Christmas Tree Recycling

XMAS tree recyling program
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR TREE AFTER THE HOLIDAYS?
December 26, 2020 to January 16, 2021
A separate WR truck will pick up your tree on the same day as your regular service (Dec. 26, 2019 - Jan. 11, 2020). Your tree will be reused as compost or mulch.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
  • Place your tree curbside the same day as your regular service. For multi-family with bin service, trees can be left in the enclosure area.
  • Remove all decorations(ornaments, tinsel, etc) and metal or plastic plant stands(wooden tree stands may be left on the tree). Flocked trees are okay.
  • Do not place your tree in a bag
  • Trees over six feet(6') tall must be cut in half
There are no drop-off locations.

gift giving with recycling in mind
Every year, residental carts overflow with holiday leftovers... food, cards, gift wrapping, etc. Try some of these tips to reduce your holiday's environmental footprint. Every little bit helps, and together, we can make a difference!

  • Instead of using a gift basket, use a reusable bag to fill with gifts.
  • Newspaper comics, posters, calendars, and maps make a creative alternative to traditional wrapping paper.
  • If you don't have any wrapping material to reuse, look for gift bags that are made from recycled content. Using bags instead of wrapping paper makes it easier for hte person to reuse later
  • Use environmentally friendly wrapping paper that contains recycled content and can be recycled.
  • Avoid buying glossy foil or metallic wrapping paper. This kind of paer cannot be recycled.
  • Use old holiday cards to decorate bags, make gift tags, or turn them into next year's cards.
