UPDATE: On August 6, 2019, the City Council Repealed the Residential Property Report (RPR) Requirement

On April 2, 2019, based on the recommendation of the Residential Property Report (RPR) Sub-Committee, the City Council directed staff to formally eliminate the RPR Program and bring this matter before the City Council for decision.

On August 6, 2019, introduction of Ordinance No. 19-1933 (amends Municipal Code, Article V, Chapter 9) was presented before the City Council in a public hearing. The City Council voted in favor of repealing the Residential Property Report (RPR) requirement. The second reading is August 20, 2019 and it becomes effective on September 20, 2019.

Special Note: Does your residential property close escrow before September 20, 2019? If yes, please submit a Residential Property Report (RPR) application to the Building and Safety Division and obtain an approved RPR inspection. The RPR repeal becomes effective on September 20, 2019 so those properties that are closing before the effective date will need to go through the existing RPR application process.

You do not need to submit an RPR application if your residential property is expected to close escrow after September 20, 2019.
