CA COVID‐19 Rent Relief Available to Income Eligible Households

The CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Call Center is now available to get help answering eligibility questions, for application assistance, and to provide information on local assistance. Tenants and landlords can call 1-833-430-2122 between 7:00 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily.

Assembly Bill 3088
Effective September 1st, 2020, the executive order that placed a moratorium on evictions ended. However, Governor Gavin Newsom, signed new legislation that goes into effect immediately until January 31st, 2021. Now, tenants who pay at least 25% of their rent fromSeptember 1st, 2020 to January 31st, 2021 will be protected from eviction. However, those who fail to meet the minimum rent payment could be removed beginning February 1st, 2021.

HUD's New Multifamily Energy and Water Efficiency Resource Library
There are plenty of energy and water efficiency resources available to multifamily property owners, but locating the right one can be a challenge. The Better Buildings Challenge Multifamily team has responded by creating a new Multifamily Energy and Water Efficiency Resources page on the HUD Exchange.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT

The City of Carson utilizes the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to fund a number of important services in the area of housing, social services, and economic development. The overall purpose of the CDBG program can be summarized as improving the quality of life for person primarily of low and moderate income. CDBG is a program of the Federal government, administered by the U.S. Department and Urban Development (HUD). HUD administers the program through grants to local and state jurisdictions. The City of Carson qualified for CDBG funding as an entitlement city (by virtue of having a population of 50,000, and meeting certain demographic criteria, mainly pertaining to the proportion of low-and moderate-income persons among its residents).

NEIGHBORHOOD PRIDE PROGRAM
The Neighborhood Pride Program (NPP) is designed to assist low-and moderate-income owners of single -family detached dwellings and mobile homes with the preservation of decent, safe and sanitary housing. The NPP corrects hazardous structural conditions, makes improvements considered necessary to eliminate blight, promotes the construction of healthy, sustainable and resource-efficient housing, improves disabled access, and corrects buildings, and health and safety /code violations.

HOME PROGRAM
The HOME program is a grant awarded from the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). The Notice of Fund Availability (NOFA) anticipates publication November 2016. The funds are available primarily to low and moderate income families to sustain affordable housing.

FORECLOSURE PREVENTION AWARENESS INITATIVE
The Carson Foreclosure Prevention Awareness Initiative (CFPAI) us a campaign created to raise awareness of existing options for those at risk of foreclosure, but also highlights tips and smart decisions that may help prevent foreclosure in the future.
