The Department of Community Development consists of Planning, Building and Safety, Economic Development, and Housing. The Department of Community Development administers the City's General Plan, as well as the City's zoning, building, and environmental regulations, to ensure the orderly physical growth of the community. Program activities include advance and current Planning, Building plan check, permit issuance, and Inspection; City Real Property and Asset Management. The Department also oversees the Community Development Block Grant program, Mobilehome Rental Review Board, Successor Agency and Housing Authority functions. Click here for details UPDATE: The Residential Property Report (RPR) requirement has ended As of September 20, 2019, The City of Carson will no longer require an approved RPR for the sale of residential properties. On April 2, 2019, based on the recommendation of the Residential Property Report (RPR) Sub-Committee, the City Council directed staff to formally eliminate the RPR Program and bring this matter before the City Council for decision. On August 6, 2019, the City Council Repealed the Residential Property Report (RPR) Requirement. Introduction of Ordinance No. 19-1933 (amends Municipal Code, Article V, Chapter 9) was presented before the City Council in a public hearing. The City Council voted in favor of repealing the Residential Property Report (RPR) requirement. The second reading was on August 20, 2019 and it became effective on September 20, 2019.
