The City of Carson is committed to providing electronic information in a format that is accessible by the largest number of users possible. Our website has been built with the following accessibility guidelines in mind:
- The standard font used throughout the site has been chosen to be easily legible.
-
Wherever possible, we use live text instead of graphics to reduce the download time of pages and increase your control.
- No information is exclusively conveyed using color.
- All images and hyperlinks have an alternative text attribute. This means when an image or hyperlink is conveying important information its content is described with an alternative text.
- Adhere to HTML standards to ensure compatibility with the widest possible number of web browsing programs and platforms.
In some cases, we present information in form of Portable Document Format (PDF) files. This is a standard file format which can be read with
free Acrobat Reader available for most computers.
When presenting information as a PDF file, we will attempt to:
-
Clearly identify the document as a PDF file and provide a link to the software needed to open the file.
- Create text-based, searchable PDF documents. This is not always possible when presenting graphics or alternate language documents.
Adobe makes accessible information and tools available on their web site that allows
conversion of PDF files to HTML or text.
Many popular browsers contain built-in accessibility tools.
Our goal is to keep working toward ensuring all functionality and content as accessible as possible. Some existing archived content may not be in 100% compliance, and some content may meet only the minimum required compliance standards. This will be resolved as departments and others update their existing pages and continue efforts to monitor and maintain acceptable compliance levels.
We welcome comments on how to improve the site's accessibility for users with disabilities.
