Support Groups
Caregiver Support Group -
This group is open to anyone taking care of a family member or friend, it is not directed at professional caregivers.
The group meets at the Juanita Millender McDonald Community Center at Carson on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.

Bereavement Support Group -
This unique group is offered to adults of all ages who are experiencing grief following the death of a loved one.
The group meets on a need be basis for 11-week ongoing sessions on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m. and drop in from
11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Housing Rights Clinic -
This program is designed to actively support and promote fair housing through education and advocacy to allow individuals the opportunity to secure the housing they desire and can afford, without discrimination based on their race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, familial status, disability, ancestry, age, source of income, or other characteristics protected by law.
Clinics are held the 1st Wednesday of every month from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 a.m. For more information, contact Fariba M. at (310) 830-7600, ext. 1753.
Nutrition Program - The program operates Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. through the Carson/Torrance YMCA.
This program serves a variety of healthy, hot and nutritious lunches. Guests enjoy a meal as well as warm conversation and fellowship.

Information and Referral
For many families, a phone call to social services is their first introduction to the sometimes bewildering network of programs and services for seniors.
Our staff can assit with questions about elder care, suggest solutions, mail information and make referrals when appropriate.

Senior Information and Resource Fairs
A senior-focused, quarterly event bringing information and resources from the community all into one convenient place. Come speak with local vendors and community organizations about the latest resources and services available. This open-air event includes a variety of representatives from community partners, and various city departments providing all of the up-to-date resources you need for yourself or your family members. All are welcome, no RSVP is necessary. Please call for details regarding upcoming resource fair dates.

Telephone Reassurance - The Telephone Reassurance Program is a calling service to seniors who are homebound or shut-in. Telephone reassurance is an ideal program for those convalescing and/or wishing to remain in contact with a “friendly voice.”
We are currently looking for volunteers and participants.
