CITY OF CARSON TAKES SIGNIFICANT LEAP TOWARDS A MORE CONNECTED AND ACCESSIBLE FUTURE - FREE INTERNET ACCESS NOW AVAILABLE IN ALL CITY OF CARSON PARKS

Wednesday, April 3, 2024 – The City of Carson is excited to announce the successful launch of free public Wi-Fi service in all city parks, a major initiative to expand digital equity and access for our residents. This service is a key part of our commitment to building a connected and inclusive community where everyone can access the internet for work, education, or leisure in the beauty of our public spaces.

Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes expressed her enthusiasm about the project: “I am thrilled to announce that we are taking another step towards creating a more connected and inclusive community. By providing free Wi-Fi in our city parks, we are ensuring that everyone can stay connected, whether it’s to work, study, or simply enjoy the outdoors. Take a step into our parks, breathe in the fresh air, and stay connected to the pulse of our city!”

The Wi-Fi in the City Parks Project is solely funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the federal stimulus bill to aide public health and economy recovery established in 2021. The project was completed efficiently and under budget, with the total spend coming in at $286,373.60, a significant savings from the allocated budget of $420,272. These savings demonstrate the City’s commitment to fiscal responsibility while improving public amenities.

Residents can now enjoy seamless internet connectivity in all neighborhood parks. The new Wi-Fi service represents the City’s dedication to enhancing residents’ quality of life by integrating technology with the great outdoors.
