On October 7, 2005, the Governor signed Assembly Bill No. 1234 which requires, among other things, that all local agencies that provide compensation, salary, or stipend to, or reimburses the expenses of, members of a legislative body must provide ethics training to local agency officials within one year of their appointment, and every two years thereafter.
The City Clerk maintains lists of those trained and notifies each person of obligations to file in a timely manner. Certificates are public record and available to view during regular business hours.
If you are a current Commission, Committee or Board member that has not completed the training, please visit the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) website. The FPPC provides a training session through their website as a self-study at
http://localethics.fppc.ca.gov/login.aspx (you will need to create a login). Following completion of the video, it is the individual’s responsibility to submit the Proof of Participation to the City Clerk’s Office.
The City of Carson, City Attorney's Office provided Ethics Training on May 4, 2017. This training was recorded and has limited availability to “check-out” at the City Clerk's Office in a DVD format. If you would like to check availability on a DVD, call the City Clerk’s Office at (310) 952-1720. Please note that this is a self-study video. Upon completion of the 2-hour ethics training, return the DVD to the City Clerk’s Office and only then will you be issued a Proof of Participation.
Thank you for your interest in Ethics Training. If you have any questions please contact the City Clerk's Office at
CityClerk@carson.ca.us or 310-952-1720.
