An Excavation Permit is required for any work that involves digging within the public right-of-way.
Examples of where excavation permits are necessary are pull box relocations, monitoring well installation, soil borings, and pothole drilling in public right-of-way.
FOR ALL ENGINEERING SERVICES REALATED PERMITS, APPLICANT MUST SCHEDULE FOR AN INSPECTION TWO WORKING DAYS BEFORE THE START OF WORK. FINAL INSPECTION REQUIRED FOR ALL PERMITS.

Before you or your contractor excavate, grade or dig, State law requires that you call Underground Service Alert of Southern California
("USA" or "Dig Alert") a minimum of 2 working days prior to the start of work.
