Spanning approximately 4.45 acres, Mills Park is centrally located in Carson and serves as a cherished recreational space for the surrounding community. With new developments designed to enhance its features and usability, the park will soon offer residents a more vibrant, functional, and welcoming outdoor experience.The project, slated to begin construction in November 2024 and reach completion by May 2025, focuses on upgrading the park’s easterly half while maintaining the natural charm of its western side. Among the exciting improvements, residents can look forward to:• A new prefab restroom with outdoor showers• A splash pad for water play• Shade structures over the workout station and playground for enhanced comfort• A completely new playground with a rubberized surface• The conversion of the basketball half-court into a full-sized basketball court• Concrete walk paths and enhanced picnic shelters (3 new shelters)• New park signage, including a monument sign and marqueeIn addition to these features, the park’s irrigation system will be adjusted, and improvements will be made to select turf areas, preserving the natural beauty of the park’s landscape while creating more inviting recreational spaces.“This project is about much more than just physical improvements,” said Lula Davis-Holmes, Mayor of the City of Carson. “It’s about making Mills Park a place where families, neighbors, and friends can come together, enjoy the outdoors, and take pride in their community.
