As businesses in Carson transition to fully reopen, the City of Carson would like to assist local businesses owners in any shape or form in this very critical time for our businesses. Every business is unique and may require special assistance from the City to conduct their business until all restrictions are lifted. The City is open to ideas from business owners on how we can help them. With this in mind, the City has created this application to solicit feedback from restaurateurs, retailers, and service providers in City of Carson on how the City can assist them in this transition period. For example, restaurants can request to add capacity by adding outdoor dining areas through this application. Retail and service providers may ask for other reliefs from City rules or requirements.
Each application will be promptly reviewed by City staff who will work with each applicant to determine feasibility of each proposal. Once requests have been received the Community Development Director will quickly issue the necessary guidelines to meet reasonable requests.
Please note, you should contact your insurance company to understand if you will need to modify your existing policy, if your operational footprint changes. You may need to add the City as an additional insured. This is done by some restaurants with existing outdoor dining and it is a common practice. Also, please be mindful of your business and residential neighbors and the surrounding area in your proposal.
Businesses will be required to obtain a Temporary Use and/or Encroachment Permit from the City to allow for additional capacity. The City will be waiving fees for these permits.
Applications are currently being accepted and submitted by mail or online.
