When can events and meetings take place?
The Carson Event Center is open 7 days a week. (exception of major City holidays).
Regular business hours are as follows:
- Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m.
- Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
What types of events are permitted?
Conferences, Product Launches, Team Building/ Holiday Parties and Social Events, Weddings,
Celebrations, Quinceaneras, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Location for Photo, Film and TV Shoots,
Concerts, Sport/Boxing Shows, Seminars, Meetings/Trade Shows/ Health Fairs, among others.
How many people can attend my event?
Our event spaces vary in size. The capacity of each space will be determined by your activity and desired set-up. An Event Coordinator will help you determine what space is right for your event.
What is prohibited?
Open flames (i.e. candles), Fog Machines, Rice/Confetti/Glitter/Sequins, silly string, flower petals, sparklers, and/or birdseed is NOT permitted.
NO outside food or catering is allowed in the facility. All food, beverage, and alcohol must be purchased from our onsite exclusive Caterer.
All other activities prohibited by City Ordinance, County, State and/ or Federal Law.

Yes, food and refreshments ranging from light fare to full sit down meals may be served at the Carson Event Center. Clients are required to use onsite exclusive caterer. Our catering team is skilled at providing meals to suit all styles and tastes. All catered events must have catering staff in attendance during the event. NO outside food or catering is allowed in the facility. Menus can be viewed online at

Yes, and like food, all alcohol must be supplied and served by our caterer who serves; beer, wine, champagne and liquor.

You may choose from a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces for your event. Rental rates vary by space, day of week, and duration of your event. Spaces may be rented individually or in combination. Outdoor spaces may only be rented in conjunction with an indoor space rental with the exception of the parking lots.
Are there special rates for residents or nonprofit groups?
Yes, our resident rate may be utilized for events of a personal nature only and after verification. This rate is excluded from use in the Main Halls and Carson Dominguez Ballroom on Friday true Sunday. Nonprofit entities with 501(c)(3) statuses may receive a separate discount rate with proper status verification.
Are there other event charges?
Depending on the scope and complexity of your event, clients may incur additional charges for:
Security - Our Event Services team may determine that your event requires additional security personnel.
Wedding Ceremony packages are available at a cost of $400.00 ($300.00 resident rate).
Additional staff may be scheduled to staff your event as needed - pending management review.
Overtime of actual staff costs/benefits per hour that you run past your event end time.
If any damages occur to the property venue or any of the equipment, a fee will be added to balance.
Any specialty items ordered through the Carson Event Center, the Caterer or the Audio/Visual provider will incur additional charges (i.e. specialty linen or furniture).

Yes, we provide an option of an outside Audio/Visual provider for all of your audio visual. Available inventory and pricing may be provided upon request from an Event Coordinator.
Décor - What is permitted?
As you consider decor for your event, please note:
Decor must be approved by the Event Coordinator. Decor is not allowed to be attached or adhered to furniture or permanent surfaces including tables, chairs, fencing or walls.
Signage must be approved by an Event Coordinator.
Balloons may be used.
Pop-up tents, canopies, and tenting may be allowed with the written permission of an Event Coordinator.
Are there special requirements for vendor deliveries?
Deliveries and pick-ups must take place on the event day during the hours specified in the contract. Deliveries for morning meetings may not arrive before 7am, unless otherwise arranged with an Event Coordinator.
How does parking work?
All parking is complementary to you and all of your guests.
How do I reserve an event space?
We encourage you to submit an Event Inquiry Form online at www.carsoncenter.com, or inquire with an Event Coordinator at 310-835-0212.
Once we review the completed Event Inquiry Form, we will follow up with you on availability of the space, rental rates, and details of your event.
Once the event details are agreed upon, an Event Coordinator will issue a contract specifying the payment schedule, cancellation policies, rules and regulations, and insurance requirements.
You will have seven business days to review and submit a signed copy and deposit. When the deposit is received, the date will be secured in our system.

All estimated costs must be paid 30 days prior to your event. Once you have reviewed and signed the permit, a deposit for the estimated rental fee is required to secure the date.
Your contract will specify the due date for the balance of estimated costs. Payments may be made by personal check (60 days before event only) cashier's check or credit card. NO cash can or will be accepted at the Carson Event Center. The Carson Event Center accepts MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express.

How do I file an official employee complaint?
Please provide me with your information, contact phone number, complaint details, and I will forward
such information to the appropriate supervisor. The supervisor will review the information and contact you at his/her earliest convenience.
Can I still enroll my son/daughter into a youth sports program?
We have three sport seasons in our parks. If the sport you are interested in is in season,
contact your local park for program availability; please provide caller with park phone number.
Can I bring a jumper to the park?
Jumpers are allowed within park premises only if you have obtained a permit beforehand. Jumpers must be rented from city-approved vendors only.
If you already have a permit to use a park facility, you may modify your permit to include a jumper by contacting the permits office directly at (310)847-3574.
RESERVATIONS
How far in advance am I allowed to make a park facility reservation?
Indoor and outdoor (i.e., indoor rooms, baseball fields, picnic shelters, and pools) park facilities can be reserved 90-days in advance.
How can I reserve a city facility for an event?
Depending on the facility, the process may vary.
For example, park facilities (exception � Veterans Sports Complex) must be reserved in person at the Recreation and Human Services Division office located at -2400 E. Dominguez Street, Carson, CA 90810 (310) 847-3570.
Park reservations can only be made Monday � Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Reservations for Veterans Sports Complex, must be made directly at the facility located at 22400 Moneta Ave, Carson, CA 90745 (310) 830-9992.
On the other hand, Carson Event Center reservations must be made in person at the Carson Event Center located at 801 E. Carson Street, Carson, CA 90745.

If I reserve a park facility, do I have to pay the full rental cost at the time of the reservation?
Depends, if reserving an indoor park facility, Veterans sports complex, or a pool, you may only
be required to pay the security deposit at the time of reservation; the full rental cost can be paid at the time of reservation but it is not required.
If you choose to leave only a security deposit, the outstanding balance will be due two weeks prior to the scheduled event.
For outdoor rentals (i.e. baseball fields and picnic shelters), you will be required to pay the full cost at time of reservation. We do not accept cash or personal checks. Only cashier's checks, money orders, and debit/credit card payments will be accepted.
I didn't get my refund?
Please allow me to take you name and number, child's name and park information and I will forward it to the proper department. (We then forward this information via email to Jenice DeGuzman, unless it's for/from a pool and we forward the information to Dara Sandoval).
How long does it take to get my refund and why?
Approximately 4 � 6 weeks. The refund is processed by Reservations and forwarded to Accounting for final processing and mailing of the check. This is completed in conjunction with processing of accounting requests.
Is there a cancellation fee?
If a reservation is cancelled, there is an automatic cancellation fee of $50.00. If a reservation is cancelled
within 7 days of an event, there is a possibility that ALL funds will be forfeited.
Are non-profit organizations required to pay rental fees for City facilities?
Unfortunately, non-profit organizations are not exempt from rental fees for City facilities. Please contact
our office at (310) 847-3574 for pricing and quotes.
How can I become a vendor (i.e., booth rental) for a specific city event?
Provide caller with event sponsor information; may be a specific park, City Hall, Carson Event Center, or a third party organization.
How can I become an official City vendor?
In order to become an official City vendor, you must contact our Purchasing Department at

When is it necessary to obtain a park permit?
A park permit must be obtained if there will be more than 25 individuals present at a gathering or if a gathering is hosted by an organized group.
What is the pricing for the Pools?
There is a $200 Security Deposit for all pools and Aquatic Centers. [Fees are subject to change].

How do I sign up for the Stroke Center?
An application must be filled out by your primary physician and yourself.
Applications filled out by primary physician must contain a physician�s stamp, stating the year and primary diagnosis and the applicant must be post 6 months from their most recent stroke.
Do we offer transportation?
We do not, but we encourage members to sign up for Dial-A-Ride (877) 435-6111 and /or Access (866)901-4858.
Are caregivers required?
If the survivor is independent, they do not require a caregiver. Dependent survivors must be accompanied by caregiver. This is not adult day care. Our staff members� attention cannot be monopolized by any one person.
Is there a fee?
There is a no monthly fee. Carson residents and non-residents are free.
How often do I have to come?
The Stroke Center is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to stay as long as they would like during normal business hours.

What are your office hours?
The Transportation office is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM � 5:00 PM. The office is closed on Fridays, weekends, and holidays.

What are the Dial-A-Ride service hours?
Dial-A-Ride service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
Where can I travel to with Dial-A-Ride?
Participants may travel within Carson limits for any purpose including banking, shopping, recreational, social, educational and medical.
Travel outside the city is limited to medical facilities and social service agencies within a designated service area parameter,
in addition to 17 satellite locations in the surrounding cities. Please refer to the DAR Service Area Map for complete service cover-age information.
How do I schedule a ride?
Call the number located on the back of your DAR card: (877) 435-6111, at least 30 minutes before your desired pick-up time.
Provide the dispatcher with the last 6-digits of your DAR card number, your name, pick-up address, and exact destination address.
Will I lose my rides if I do not use them all in one month?
No. Ride balances roll over to the following month if not used.
Can I get a refund of my trips if I move or discontinue using Dial-A-Ride?
No. Ride purchases are non-refundable. No exceptions will be made. Please plan accordingly.
Can I schedule recurring trips?
Yes. You may pre-schedule rides for standing daily, weekly or monthly appointments.

What is the Dial-A-Ride Program?
The Carson Dial-A-Ride is a convenient and affordable transportation program designed
to allow seniors and adults with disabilities to maintain their independence. Curb-to-curb service is provided by taxicabs and lift-equipped vehicles.
How does Dial-A-Ride work?
Purchased rides are credited to a personalized swipe card. The card is presented to the taxi driver and swiped at the beginning and end of each trip.
After each trip, a ride is deducted from the available Dial-A-Ride card balance.
How much does it cost to use Dial-A-Ride?
The cost per one-way ride is $2.00, with a maximum value of $20.00 per ride.
Any amount exceeding $20.00 on the taxi meter must be paid using cash or credit/debit card at time of service.
What are the eligibility requirements for Dial-A-Ride?
Carson residents, age 60 or over, and adults with disabilities are eligible. Individuals with disabilities who are under the age of 60 must have a valid ACCESS card to apply for Dial-A-Ride.
How do I apply for Dial-A-Ride?
You may apply in person in the Transportation Services office, located in the Community Center.
You will need a Valid DMV California Driver License or ID with your Carson address, a recent utility bill or bank statement with same name and address as ID,
a $10.00 application processing fee applies. Up to 20 rides may be pre-purchased at $2.00 each.
What if I lose my Dial-A-Ride card?
A replacement DAR card may be ordered for a fee of $10. Please allow 2-3 weeks for receipt.
Do I have to renew my Dial-A-Ride membership?
Yes, membership renewals are processed biennially in even-numbered years.
If I move to another city, may I continue to use Dial-A-Ride or will I lose my trips?
Carson Dial-A-Ride is reserved for Carson residents only. However, available trip balances may be transferred to another Carson Dial-A-Ride participant, at your request.
What if I receive dialysis and I need more than 20 rides per month?
Participants who receive recurring life-preserving treatment, such as dialysis or chemotherapy, may apply for a waiver that allows up to 30 rides per month. Medical certification is required.
How long does it take for online payments to be processed?
Payments received during regular business hours are typically applied within 10 minutes of receipt. Payments received during off-hours will be credited to account on the next business day.
Can I use Dial-A-Ride if I use a wheelchair?
Yes, wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available. Please call 24 hours in advance to ensure on-time service and inform the dispatcher that you require a lift-equipped van.
Can others ride with me?
What is ACCESS and where can I apply for it?
ACCESS is a shared-ride service for individuals with disabilities, provided by the County of Los Angeles.

How many rides may I use per month?
Eligible participants may purchase and use up to 20 one-way rides per month.
How do I take the buses in Carson?
Riders may take one or a combination of the Carson Circuit, Metro, Torrance Transit, or Long Beach Transit.

How many does the bus cost to ride?
Carson Circuit fare is $1. Elderly and disabled (with ID) ride for free. Unlimited monthly passes are also available for $30. Fares for other operators are subject to change and can be found through the links above.
When do the buses run and how often?
Carson Circuit runs from 5:20 a.m. to 6:40 p.m. on Mondays - Fridays, and 10:40 a.m. to 4:40 pm on Saturdays. The buses do not operate on Sundays. The first loop of each route leaves the layover at 5:20 a.m. and last loop of the day leaves the layover at 6:00 p.m.
